Southern Therapy Partners with Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure™
Carrollton, GA - Southern Therapy Services, Inc. is a proud supporter in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure™ as the official sports medicine sponsor for the Atlanta event. In its sixth year in Atlanta, the Komen 3-Day for the Cure takes place over three consecutive days, will raise millions of dollars and heighten awareness of the disease affecting one in eight women in the U.S. during their lifetime.
"For years we have sought a signature event where the resources of Southern Therapy would be best utilized for an extremely worthwhile project," says Bo Hamil President and CEO.
Southern Therapy's own physical therapists and certified athletic trainers will volunteer their time as part of the sports medicine crew to provide medical care related to the prevention, evaluation and management of injuries walkers may sustain during the 60 mile walk which begins at Lake Lanier Islands Resort and ends at Turner Field on October 22-24.
Lee Heath, Physical Therapist, describes her experience last year at the Komen 3-Day, "As we taped hundreds of feet, ankles, and knees, the motivation and perseverance of the walkers were a constant source of strength and inspiration. There were no whiners. They all realized that the joint pain, blisters, sleepless nights in the cold tents, and exhaustion were very small sacrifices to make for the cause. They were going through this experience so that their mothers, their wives, their daughters, and their friends might live in a world free from this devastating disease." Heath is also the Director of Spine Rehabilitation for Southern Therapy in Carrollton and will be participating as sports medicine crew captain in this year's event.
