Dry Needling

Dry Needling | Carrollton GA | Villa Rica GA | Bremen GA Dry Needling | Carrollton GA | Villa Rica GA | Bremen GA

Dry needling is an advanced intervention technique used by a trained physical therapist to treat a variety of muscular and soft tissue problems including; extremity pain, headaches and migraines, jaw pain, leg pain, back and shoulder pain.

Treatment involves the insertion of thin, non-medicated solid needles into muscles or connective tissues and is coupled with additional therapeutic strengthening exercises and a comprehensive treatment plan to enforce progress. The needles target movement by stimulating underlying myofascial trigger points, muscular and connective tissues that are more difficult, and often practically impossible, to stimulate blood flow and therefore promote healing. Physical therapists use dry needling with the goal of releasing/inactivating these trigger points and relieving pain. According to the American Physical Therapy Association, research supports that dry needling improves pain control, reduces muscle tension, and normalizes dysfunctions of the deep cells of your nerves and muscles. This can help speed up your return to active rehabilitation and help you tolerate life and therapy with much less pain and tension.

Southern Therapy has been offering this service at their Carrollton location since 2014 and is now offering in Bremen. Therapists are required to complete a minimum of 50 hours in continuing education from an accredited program which includes written and practical testing for competency.
